MainStreet’s Charity Donations 2022

MainStreet’s charity donations 2022

At this time of year, MainStreet donates a few thousand pounds to a range of charities. Please consider supporting these charities too.

This year, our chosen beneficiaries are:

  • Shelter: The economic difficulties facing the country are also exacerbating homelessness problems – and in Scotland, it is expected that in 2022, over 8,000 children will spend Christmas stuck in temporary accommodation. We have decided to give to Shelter, which campaigns all year round on its vision of a safe, secure, affordable home for everyone. You can give too via https://scotland.shelter.org.uk/donate

  • Mind: provides advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem, as well as campaigning to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding of mental health. See https://www.mind.org.uk/donate/silent-nights-2022/

  • North East Edinburgh Foodbank. One of our team regularly volunteers with this group which, like many across the UK, has seen a very significant increase in uptake in 2022. As demand grows during a cost of living crisis, donations decrease so any additional support they and others can get is much appreciated https://edinburghnefoodbank.com

  • Fife Gingerbread: The team there do great work supporting and empowering single parents and families in need through early intervention and partnership working. @FifeGingerbread https://www.fifegingerbread.org.uk/justgiving

  • Bikes for Refugees (Scotland): supports the resettlement of socio-economically disadvantaged and isolated New Scots through the upcycling and provision of free bicycles and the transformational power of cycling.  Bicycles provide a free and sustainable means of transportation to support access to essential services as well as an important way to meet new people, and to keep physically and mentally healthy.  https://www.bikesforrefugees.scot/sponsors-donors

Best wishes to our clients, partners and friends for Christmas 2022 and for a safe 2023. Stay well.
